love day. {just for fun}

Our daughter Priya has been obsessed lately with the “Little House on the Prairie” book series.  She just reads and reads and reads…it’s a beautiful thing to see as a parent.  She asked us if  she could invite a couple friends over on Valentine’s Day to make the “heart-shaped cakes” that were made in those books.  It just so happens that I bought her the cookbook of the “Little House” recipes, so we knew exactly how to make them, and they are super easy.  We are not big Valentine’s people, but this was something fun to do. :)

The friends arrived, and we got the book out to look over the recipe and then we passed out aprons. Riah was feeling a little overwhelmed by girls.

We got all the utensils needed and all of our ingredients.  Do you see Gabe’s head?  He climbed up on the chair to get in on “the mix.” ;)

Cake making is so, so serious.

Pretty girl.

How many hands can you fit in a little bowl??!! I also find it funny that one of our photos made it into this photo!! HA!

Gabe was booted out.

Riah is shaving off some fresh nutmeg.

My pal Becky was their with her two girls.  Little Addy is friends with little Gabe. :)  Isn’t she beautiful?

Getting down to business, rolling out the dough.

Then we baked them, and as they were coming out of the oven, sprinkled a bit of sugar on them.  They were more like little scones, but GOOD as could be!

And they went pretty darn fast.

Not enough sweets???  Well, remember the box of chocolates I mentioned in the last post that my Mom + Dad sent me?  Oh yeah, that is just the top layer.

hmmm…..can you guess my favorite??? :)

I’m scared.  I might eat the entire box…….like, this week.  Help please?!!

gabriel. {bath time}

It has been a while since Gabe has had his own post, all to himself…so I decided to show you some cute photos I got last night at bath time.  Every now and then he takes a bath in the kitchen sink.  He is always so cute in there- like his own little personal hot-tub. :)

Sweet little *twinkling* eyes.

He did a great big splash, and then looked to see if he was in trouble.

He kinda shocked himself.

After Baba got him out and dried him up, they went over to talk about the trees and the birdies.

He loves his froggie towel, and his froggie PJ’s.

I was working on this photo when my daughter walked down.  She said, “Is that Adin?”  (Which is my oldest of our 3 boys.)  I said no.  Then Adin walked in and I asked him who he thought this was, and he said, “Riah.”  (Our middle son.)  HA!!  It makes me laugh how our kids kind of morph to look so much like on another. :)

In other news….just received a package.  It was the most MONSTEROUS sized box of chocolates I have seen.  It has to be like 20 pds.  Not just any chocolates, but Aglamesis Brothers chocolates.  I was not sure whether I was angry, or wanted to kiss my mother.   I will take a photo later because it is CRAZY! :)

We have been working on commercial projects this month and last, and so not a lot to share on the blog. :(  But, loads of stuff beginning next week.

the blog low-down.

We love our blog so much, and we’re not ashamed to say it. :)  We have been using the ProPhoto Theme since April of 2008, and we have have enjoyed our experience with it’s ease of use, and many customization options.

We receive emails each week from photographers wondering what our thoughts are on our blog, so we decided to dedicate a page to answering our most frequently asked questions.  It is listed on the menu above our bio, under the “info” tab.

ProPhoto was kind enough to feature our sweet little blog on their “gallery” page! :)

If you are looking for a inexpensive, customizable, and easy to use blog, look no further!

Kelly (Daphne Photo Studio) - He is seriously one of the cutest babies in town!! :)

our snow kids.

The kids have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for snow.  Well, last week it hit, and they had 2 great days.  Then it hit again yesterday!  HARD.  It was the perfect kind-pure beautiful powder type.  Again they rounded up their neighborhood friends, and headed out to play.  And in case you were wondering-Do homeschool kids get school off too on snow days??  Ummm, sometimes. :)  Last week yes, they were off, but today there was no going out to play without their work being done. Which they finished, at warp-speed.

Brett took all 4 of the kids out to play and take some photos of them last week.  This was Gabriel’s first time in the snow, and he was so excited to go out!

Riah walked out and started eating the snow right away.  (I don’t understand kids fascination with eating snow?)

Priya put Gabe in a saucer, and started pulling him around…

Riah was pretty happy!  They started heading over to a nearby golf course, for some great hills.

Gabe’s wondering why it is soooo cold out!

So his big brother Adin tries to help him out.

Priya and her best buddy Josie had a blast sledding together!! They are so cute. :)

UH OH!!  Baby down!

The boys sledding together…Riah’s little face is so happy. :)

Josie’s brothers, Nick and Jake having fun.:)

OH NO!!!  Josie helps Gabe after a face down fall! :(

Gabe realizes this white stuff is not all it’s cracked up to be.

Adin makes me laugh!  His tongue is ALWAYS out when he is doing a balance type sport. :)  HA!

Priya snowboarding!

Our pretty girl.

:)  Anyone ready for Spring yet??

February 4, 2009 - 10:22 pm

esther - I am so ready for spring. We’ve had record snowfall this year and we have been below zero way too many times. Poor Gabe with a face full, yes the white stuff is not all its cracked up to be.

February 4, 2009 - 10:30 pm

Ashie - I love my babies. Everyday that it snowed all I wanted to do was come over and play with them. No one appreciates snow quite like kids….makes me miss being little with you and sledding down the hill (on pool rafts!). I love you sissy….I think we should just go outside and play one day. Maybe get Billy, Angie and Kay-Kay in on it too….I’m a dork I know. I just love my siblings. These pictures are beautiful….Brett did a great job! Much Love!

February 4, 2009 - 10:44 pm

Briony - wow looks like a fun day of sledding…i love the snow in the face shot…haha.

February 4, 2009 - 11:40 pm

Maya Laurent - Okay all of the photos with Gabe are cracking me up! Zane wasn’t into the snow either! Your older kids look like they had a blast!!!

Mama/Nanny - MY BEAUTIFUL Grandchildren: to quote a country song by Trace Adkins: “You’re gonna miss this. You’re gonna want this back.
You’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast. These Are Some Good Times. So take a good look around. You may not know it now ….But you’re gonna miss this”. God KNOWS I wish I had “those days” back… I LOVED IT!
