pri·ya : fruit of God. {film}

our little girl is no longer little and almost no longer a girl.  she’s almost twelve, but the size of an adult.

we know this b/c her shoe size has now exceeded both mine and Jess’.  we know this b/c she has become rather mature and responsible.  we know this b/c she has become more selfless and caring about others, preferring others to herself, although we still have to remind her at times to prefer listening over speaking.  we know this b/c she is starting to have more of a mind of her own, that still needs lots of guidance.  she is very unique and quirky and we wouldn’t prefer it any other way.  we know this b/c we are also having to grow more with her and through our relationship with her.  she still hasn’t lost the innocent way that she views the world and those around her and we hope she never loses this sweet charm completely.

she is blossoming into the lovely fruit of God we had hoped she would become.

Emilie - Stunning photo!!!

Lauren & Ian {love}

We had a CRAZY spring and summer this year first filled with intense rain, and then with intense HEAT. This poor couple were about ready to give up on an engagement session altogether. They were our only reschedule of the year, and it wasn’t until our *4th* try that the weather finally cooperated…..But the 4th was the winner.

They wanted a country/rustic feel for their session. After scouting for days around town looking for the perfect spot, we ended out on the land where I grew up. These were taken on my parent’s and our kind neighbor’s property. It’s the first session we’ve done out there, and we just loved every second.

Thanks Lauren and Ian for your extreme patience with Mother Nature. We think it was worth the wait! ;)  Can’t wait for October 1st!

engagement at the farm {film} | studio3z photography :: Cincinnati Wedding Photographers :: Destination Wedding Photographers - [...] scans back as this was our first engagement session that we also shot with film.  You may remember Lauren and Ian’s engagement session in a recent post.  It was a brilliant summer evening and we had a great time with this couple out [...]

Today.

Today I am working on the piles around our house from our renovation, organizing things here and there while singing Radiohead’s, “Everything in it’s Right Place.”

Today I am prepping the kids school drawers, filling folders with paper, lining bookshelves with their new books-trying to make some sense of the chaos that will (hopefully soon) be their schoolroom.

Today I am longing for our house to be back to normal. Please. Soon.

Today as the kids are running around screaming, tapping me on the shoulder, talking to me as I type this, I am thinking about where I was sitting earlier this week. On a dock. In Maine. In a town where no one can use cell phones. Seemingly untouched since the 1950′s. I missed the kids terribly, but….

I really liked that place.

Our kitchen is slowly being pieced back together, painting begins soon, our COMPLETE RE-BRAND is on the way (can’t wait!!!), and I begin school with the kids next week. Life is insanely busy, but incredibly blessed. Can’t wait to share more soon….

christine & joe {wedding}

Christine and Joe had a small intimate wedding with a homemade/nature theme and feel. In other words, our dream type of wedding. :)Brett and I were giddy all day. From the first look that sent us hiking (Christine in her wedding dress) through the woods, to the gorgeous historic home in the Glen Helen Nature Preserve for the ceremony and reception….we just couldn’t get enough. These two were just awesome, and they put such thought and detail into their special day.

All of the DIY signage and *lovely* handwriting was done by JOE. Yes, Joe. That solidified that he is “the bee’s knees” in my book. Their picturesque ceremony and reception were held at The Birch House, in one of our favorite small towns, Yellow Springs.

Inspiration was around every corner at this wedding, and Christine and Joe’s sweet and charming disposition made our job such a pleasure.

Christine and Joe, your wedding was a mix of a laid-back backyard get together & pure magic. It truly was perfect. Thank you for allowing us to document this time for you both.

Wishing you many happy years~
