If you have landed here...bless your soul.  Welcome to our little tiny corner of the cyber world, based out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Below you will see favorites from our sessions we do professionally, and also loads of personal nonsense that we hope at least will entertain you.  If nothing less, you can keep up on our adorable children.  Really, they are worth the trip back here time and time again in and of itself.

My name is Jess.  My hubby is Brett.  We are crazy about each other, our 4 babies, and our art.  Welcome to our world.

an unexpected visitor. {flew in and flew out}

As we were getting all our gear together and preparing for a photo session a couple weeks back, we noticed a visitor sitting on our back deck.  Actually I was watering my flowers and never even noticed the uninvited guest peering at me from 4 feet away.  When Brett yelled a minute later, I walked out to see this guy staring at me.

We have a hot tub on our back deck, and since we live on a hill we get some major wind gusts ripping through.  The previous owners decide when they put the hot tub in, to also put up a wind shield behind it made of plexy glass.  It does a great job of stopping the wind, but also does a great job of stopping birds.  (You would think with how filthy it is, they would see it!  I purposefully DO NOT clean it.) We realized after the bird sat there for a while that he most likely had hit the glass and was injured or stunned.

Brett started taking pictures and he kept getting closer, and closer, and closer. I quickly reminded him that those suckers are fast, and could jump up and claw his eyeball out if he wanted too. Then I went inside to look him up in the internet to see exactly what he was. He is a Hawk (Falcon’s I guess are endangered-I didn’t know). My kids see him flying around all the time, and earlier that same day they were outside doing hawk calls. Call me crazy, but I think this guy was swooping down to check things out.  Kinda creepy.  Kinda cool.

a hawk + a super-soaker gun = weird photo combo

Brett got this shot of him blinking….

So, we didn’t know what to do and he sat there like an hour and we had to leave for our shoot. We said that we would call the animal services if it was still there when we got back. Brett’s Mom was watching the kids while we were gone, and she said about 2 hours later that it just took off. We were happy he moved on.

Very interesting visitor indeed. Our first official animal photo shoot.:)

Maya - How cool is that…you look like you have a bird for a model! And the super soaker photo…I think that’s a pretty rare shot!

Renotta King - He has such a “haughty” air of belonging – why do I have a feeling that there will be more photo opportunities with this guy? I think he’ll be back!

holly rouse - jesse, my mom has an INSANE, OBSESSIVE love for hawks.

Mamaw Patty - These are just awesome photos …

Holly – your mom might want to consider getting a canvas print of her favorites from Brett & Jess. I have one of my granddaughters that they did and it’s just awesome.

New friends in Germany!

I think the biggest compliment you can receive as an artist, is hearing that you have inspired someone in some way.  When I received a comment on the blog from Alex of “Photo Finish” (a husband/wife team based in Germany), we were thrilled!  We have so many people from different countries looking at our blog each day, but rarely do they leave a comment or drop a note saying hello.  (I realize this could be due to language differences of course!)  Just in the past month we have had visits from over 40 countries ranging from France, Belgium, Hong Kong, Singapore, Brazil, South Africa, India, Italy, Australia, and Spain- to name a few.  And of course our new friends from Germany; Alex and Susanne.  We were delighted to find out that they mentioned us on their blog, so “Danke Schoen” you guys!  Now, take a moment and go:

CHECK THEM OUT!

And if you have never left us a comment, we would love to hear about you and where you are from! :)

What is a photo blog without a photo….here’s Gabe reorganizing our business cards which he does a few times a day.

Ida - Hello! I’m a quite recent follower of your blog (I think I found it about two weeks ago – it was through Betsy King’s blog where she mentioned you) and I love it! I love the photos but I also love reading about you and your big beautiful family. I am a Swedish woman living in Quebec city with my Canadian boyfriend. We have a son named Bailey (15 months) and I’m documenting his life in pictures and in videos so that my family in Sweden can follow him. I love photography but I’m very much an amateur, even though I try to get better all the time. I look forward to keeping track of you! :)

new blog + studio3z love in South Carolina?

Hello fellow blog readers!  Recently we updated our blog with a new background, new banner slide show, and a few other goodies sprinkled throughout like our new “about” section. :)  It was brought to my attention that some people are not able to view the “new” blog and well, that kinda upset me because we put some work in to it!!  So, if you are seeing the same ol’ same old blog, please clear your cache.  If you don’t know how to do this, here is a youtube video teaching you how.  I think this one is windows based, but they have the mac version too.  Yes, they have them for everything.

In other news, studio3z is visiting South Carolina at the end of next month! (YAYYY!) We will be down near Charleston, and if we have interest we would be open to scheduling a session (any type: family, senior, fashion, just for fun).  If you would be interested in running around historic Charleston  with us get back to us soon at: info@studio3z.com

We plan to start traveling more often, so if you are in another location and would love for us to visit YOUR area, please drop us a note and let us know!! :)

pure joy.

My friend Lucy just recently turned me on to “Dancing Matt.” I can not even tell you how happy this video makes me. It gives me goose bumps and makes my eyes water. Like, “I want to keep this on my desktop so when I am having a bad day I can just sit and watch him dance,” happy. Not to mention I can be caught doing this same dance almost daily (Just ask the kids).:)

14 months in the making, 42 countries, and a cast of thousands.
