    If you have landed here...bless your soul.  Welcome to our little tiny corner of the cyber world, based out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Below you will see favorites from our sessions we do professionally, and also loads of personal nonsense that we hope at least will entertain you.  If nothing less, you can keep up on our adorable children.  Really, they are worth the trip back here time and time again in and of itself.

    My name is Jess.  My hubby is Brett.  We are crazy about each other, our 4 babies, and our art.  Welcome to our world.

look up.

I can’t recall if I’ve posted this image or not.  Brett took it very spontaneously while doing a newborn shoot last December.  He looked up. He saw the sky. He pressed the shutter.

This frozen scene is magic to me.

Today I am reminded to watch for these moments….they are all around, every day of our lives.  We choose to notice them or not.

So today I say goodbye…

To twitter, to facebook, to itunes, to netflix, to word press…..

to editing, to email, to album design.

I’m heading outside with 12 little hands to hold (My niece and nephew are here to add to the mix).

If you think you don’t have a moment to spare….

You may be having a busy day, feeling stressed, maybe even depressed- in these cases I encourage it even more:

Step outside to breathe deeply for a moment.

And most importantly, don’t forget to look up.

amanda reynolds - SO BEAUTIFUL!!

abandoned beauty. {through my eyes}

Two different places that caught my eye and pulled me in.

Although a house, per se, may not have a soul- It amazes me to think of those which it has sheltered, and with which it has shared life.

Janica - These are so lovely, Jess. Moody. And such a contrast to each other! I can relate much more to the second image. :)

patty - loved this post and the last image especially.

magic {to me}

On the way home from our bed & breakfast we were visiting over the weekend, I spotted this gem along the roadside.

Gem you say?  Of this “piece of crap,” falling down house?  Absolutely….at least to me.  I am addicted and almost feel magnetized to old abandoned stuff.  This precious little house was no exception.  It was literally 10 feet off a main (very fast moving) state route.  I was immediately smitten with the thoughts of its former visitors, and the people who called this humble dwelling home at one point in time.

This stone was about 200 yards from the house….

The history…the thought of what it has seen…everything about this place intrigued me.

The welcoming front door…just watch out for the trees on the way in.

It was the perfect day for this….super windy and dark skies. The house seemed dead to me, and this little guy was one of the only signs of life.

Restroom anyone?

“Awww, Brett come here! So romantic -a two seater!!”

jess - i am IN LOVE with these photo’s!! i too love anything old and abandoned, and this little house is the perfect example of both. i can almost see an old man, sitting in a rocker on the front porch, chewing on a piece of grass…just passing time…{love it!}

Melody - I have always loved looking for old, abandoned places. My husband and I found an old school house one time with an upright piano left in it. Some of our favorite pictures…they speak the history for you! Thanks for sharing!

April 8, 2010 - 7:54 am

jenny - Very cool, I love old houses and barns too. There was an old, nearly falling over barn near our house in college and when I got my first open assignment in photography that is the first place I went.

Amanda - Oh my goodness, I LOVE LOVE LOVE these photos! I too am insanely intrigued by old buildings, abandoned homes and farms, etc. I always want to stop, but never do…that is it, you have inspired, my next drive down to see family in NE, I am stopping at some of my favorite “haunts” on the route. Afterall, I suppose I never know when they’ll be gone. ;)

Brad Smith - I really enjoyed this set of images! I too, enjoy exploring old, abandoned places. Makes you think of the history that might have been there.

today, we explored.

My Dad once told me, “I think you would be content with just a rock on a mountainside.”

(logged that away as one of the best compliments I have ever received.)

My Dad was right, as long as I have this mountain man by my side.  Oh, and I guess those 4 kids we have, my bible, and a warm cappuccino.

Then he’s right.;)

Brett and I visited our favorite bed and breakfast last weekend.  And as we always do, we took some time to explore around and see what we could see. It was extremely blustery outside, but the air smelled so fresh.

Tomorrow I will post one of my favorite finds. :)
