Janelle and Jeff were married on a beautiful day in Indianapolis, IN. One element that stood out about their day was their first look & gift exchange. It was so very precious. But then there were the balloons that matched the girls shoe colors, and the surprise Michael Jackson dance by Janelle too. Let’s just say, their wedding was extremely heartwarming and TONS of fun!! We felt incredibly honored to be a part.

christine & joe {wedding}

Christine and Joe had a small intimate wedding with a homemade/nature theme and feel. In other words, our dream type of wedding. Brett and I were giddy all day. From the first look that sent us hiking (Christine in her wedding dress) through the woods, to the gorgeous historic home in the Glen Helen Nature Preserve for the ceremony and reception….we just couldn’t get enough. These two were just awesome, and they put such thought and detail into their special day.

All of the DIY signage and *lovely* handwriting was done by JOE. Yes, Joe. That solidified that he is “the bee’s knees” in my book. Their picturesque ceremony and reception were held at The Birch House, in one of our favorite small towns, Yellow Springs.

Inspiration was around every corner at this wedding, and Christine and Joe’s sweet and charming disposition made our job such a pleasure.

Christine and Joe, your wedding was a mix of a laid-back backyard get together & pure magic. It truly was perfect. Thank you for allowing us to document this time for you both.

We met Molly and Drew for the first time on their wedding day, and immediately we were overtaken with their sweet nature. Currently Molly and Drew are based in Texas, living near Drew’s brother (who also happens to be an amazing photographer beside his beautiful wife!). Molly actually grew up just a couple miles from where I did, in a small country town outside of Cincinnati. Their wedding day was very beautiful, laid back, extremely fun, and most of all- filled to the brim with love!

Also, did I mention this couple is absolutely stunning? I kept telling them, “You two are just TOO pretty.” Seriously, inside and out.

my favorite moment.

So many moments on a wedding day can be special, unique, and often incredibly intimate. We each have our favorites. Some people love the look on the groom as he sees his bride walking down the isle, others love the first kiss.

Without a doubt, my absolute favorite part of a wedding is when the bride and groom exit after the ceremony, typically sharing a warm embrace once outside of everyone’s view. They are able to finally drown out the world and everything around them, squeeze tightly- all inhibitions lost. All the planning, thought, and the many details are set aside.

The weight of the day is lifted. Because now……you are married to your love.

Drew and Molly are pictured above. This was captured moments before they knew we were there. To me, it was the most magical moment of the day.

There is something so sweet about Holly when Helios is around. She smiles so big and bright, and you can just tell they are so deeply in love. I love that Helios is so sweet and tender with her, and yet the next second is the biggest goofball, making her and everyone else laugh. I think they’re just adorable together.

We had such a wonderful day with them documenting their beautiful wedding. From their traditional Chinese door games that allow the groom in to see his bride, to the traditional tea ceremony, and on to the gorgeous outdoor ceremony over looking our city….I’d say the day flowed quite perfectly.

Sister and brother….as they walked down the isle, the ring bearer would hit his sister’s hand to make the petals fall and she would giggle so loud! They were OBLIVIOUS to everyone watching. It was precious.

On their wedding day, I noticed that whenever Christina saw Eric she had the biggest most beautiful smile I’ve seen, and she laughs so freely. When she was near, Eric couldn’t help but stare at her….most often with the sweetest smile across his face. You could just see it in each of them. They are absolutely crazy about each other.

happy first anniversary {to ashley and adam}

To my baby sister and her hubby….

Happy First Anniversary!! I love you both, and it has been a joy watching you two grow and love together over the past year. I know the first year of marriage can sometimes be the hardest….you are learning how to live with someone other than yourself, and how to care for your new half. By the grace of God you have made it through, and our prayer is that it may carry you through all that you face together. Adam, we barely knew you when we shot your engagement session, and now it is so apparent how much you love my sister.

{I still tear up (ok, I flat out cry) whenever I watch the gorgeous film of the wedding day, by Cincinnati Filmmaker Studio Z Films.}

I am so grateful for the happiness you guys have found in one another, and I hope to be wishing you two a Happy Anniversary 49 years from now too.

the wedding of debbi & chris

Our year began on a super high note with the beautiful wedding of Debbi and Chris. On January 1st, the weather was looking rough as we headed out that morning. The dark clouds were above, and a fine (and very cold), misty rain was in the air. We had hoped and prayed that we would have some dry time for this wonderful couple, even though the forecast called for a very gray day. And it was a gray day in fact….that is, until the moment these two love birds met for their first look. It was a bit unbelievable. Chris had his back to Debbi, and we pulled up in the car. As we walked over, the clouds were parting and sunshine shone for the first time of the day. It was so unbelievably PERFECT for these two, who are so in love, and were beyond thrilled to FINALLY be saying their “I dos.”

Big congrats to you Debbi and Chris! Your gorgeous Manor House wedding, surrounded by such loving family and friends, was so incredibly perfect for you two. We were so honored to be a part. Wishing you love and laughter together for many years to come. ~jess & brett

Working on a wedding post this morning, when I stumbled across this image. It is so awesome to be able to witness brides and grooms on what may be one of the best days of their lives. With some couples, the joy is overflowing and crazy contagious. Debbi (pictured below), is one such bride. Sweet as can be, and completely, positively, overjoyed to be marrying her true love.

This morning, seeing this photo brought a huge smile to my face. Can’t wait to share more!
